Take a few minutes and reflect on the writing you and your peers have done on this blog. Here are some questions you might want to respond to:
Do you like writing on our blog? Why or why not?
How is writing for the blog different from other writing you've done as a student or from the writing we've done in our class?
What have you noticed in your writing for the blog that's been interesting? What's been interesting from your peers' responses?
Is there anything you don't like about writing for the blog? Are there any changes we could make as a class?

Because I have never really contributed to a blog before, this I think is a good exercise to do. I really enjoy hearing input from everyone and getting to know them a little better through their entries. The writing is different from other work I have done in that it is less formal and a little more creative. It allows me to better process what is going on in the class and what aspects I need to pay more attention to. It also helps to keep me engaged with what is going on. I think it has been really interesting how different people can interpret one post entirely opposite of another. I also find it interesting what other people find relevant to the topic we are discussing because it can be completely different from what I would have thought. It really helps me to get into the mind set for the class by opening up with the blog post. It is easy and can help out my grade as well which I find really nice. It can be frustrating if I don’t especially relate to a topic in the blog, but other than that, I really enjoy it.
I do enjoy writing on the blog, it gives me a chance to almost forget about spell check and just relate to my classmates. Granted we don't always hit an intellectual topic, but to read what someone has written gives a closer look at the person then if you were to just listen.
I haven't ever used blogs before, but since this class i have visited a friend of mines blog site (www.henriklampert.com) and it is really cool how a page like this allows for a constant stream of information, with additions by each comment.
I've noticed that as I write on this blog, it gives me a chance to let a jumble of thoughts i have out, without being judged on how choppy or incoherent it is. It's a good tool to refine these thoughts as well. As i read the words of my classmates i am able to get a fuller view or maybe see something that i hadn't before and then I can include that in my own comment.
I enjoy writing in the blog because it gives me a chance to express my opinions without having to talk. It allows time to form my opinions and somewhat organize my thoughts, an opportunity that isn’t always possible in a conversation. The world of blogging is brand new to me, so the concept is enough to make it fun. I enjoy reading everyone’s opinions and interpretations on the different subjects because it helps broaden the overall understanding of a topic.
The blog is different from other writing I’ve done as a student because it is less formal and other students in the class, not just the teacher, get to read what is written. I’m not as concerned with grammar for the blog as I would be for a formal paper, and it’s nice to be able to share thoughts without necessarily having to back up or support them all the time. Having the class be able to read what is written brings a whole new meaning/dimension? to writing.
I like to write on Blog. For me, this is much relaxing than the formal assignment. I can free write on whatever I am thinking and what I feel like to talk. I personally think Blog makes a good story teller. It is free style, no strict forming, vocab choice, just any kind of expression you feel like to say or write. But unlike blog, Academic Writing is pretty much forming and restrict. The worst thing of all, you have been reading and searching a lot of resources, but it is still hard to find the right one that fits to your paper the best. Sometimes I just think that Academic Writing is kind boring and forcing you to make up a lot of stuffs that try to tell people it does make sense when the truth is sense of senseless...
Writing on a blog, sharing information in a very public manner is both good and bad. The “why” can range from “good” because it allows for a flow of ideas and information in perhaps a faster manner, but “bad” because it is very open and available to anyone to read. Blog assignments are different from other course assignments as they are more open for anyone to read and are required. In my writing for these blog assignments, my responses are very limited and to the point.
Overall I enjoy the blog. I find that the blog gives us a different type of median to express our opinions to the professor and our peers. So often in academic settings we find ourselves writing in a formal or professional fashion. The blog on the other hand allows us to communicate in a somewhat less formal setting. I actually find the blog almost encouraging us to write in the first person, which for me is a first for the most part. A blogging class sounds like a good idea, but at the same time I can already for see a lot of administrative/legal/professional issues arising. I actually find blogs to be a very dangerous median for conveying opinions. There is little to no regulation of hte content, and often the blogs are littered plagerism, copyright infringement, slander, aimless conjecture, and unfounded conclusions. If a class was to be created around the "blog," I feel that the professor would have to make a strong effort to educate the students on concepts of intellectual property and editorial integrity. I feel that if someone could provide an extremely structured and monitored online community with an emphasis on integrity and upholding the protected rights of individuals intellectual property and name with in a community that a blogging class would be a great asset to the University.
